Limited Time Commission Run

I’m breifly offering commissions on two styles of portable Wiis: Louiis and Ashidas. The starting price for a portable is $1500. More details on either style of build below.

Louiis

A Louii is a Nintendo Switchish sized portable GameCube/Wii. It’s designed to be relatively compact, while still carrying a fairly substantial battery life.

Starting price for a Louii is $1500.

Features:

  • Runs virtually every GameCube/Wii game at full speed, as the unit has a real Nintendo Wii inside.

  • Custom colored buttons, sticks, and case in any color or style you’d like

  • 480p 5” IPS display.

  • Around 5 hours of battery life

  • Digital audio through the speakers and the headphone jack

  • Audio is controllable through two buttons on the bottom of the system.

  • USB-C charging and data transfer

  • 128gb of internal storage (enough space for 50+ GameCube/Wii games). I can include more storage if desired, as long as you cover the cost difference of a larger USB drive.

  • The ability to run Virtual Console games and emulators to play games from older consoles. Will not work as reliably as GameCube and Wii games.

I will include a foam carrying case, a 3D printed display stand, and a USB-C fast charger with the portable.

Add-ons:

  • Wii remote compatibility - $40. The built in GameCube controller can be used to play most Wii games with relatively simple controls, but if you want to be able to sync up Wii remotes to the portable system, then I charge a bit extra. Adding this functionality is a bit of a headache, and most people don’t use it, so that’s why I charge extra.

  • Expanded storage - $20+. I’m not Apple, so I’ll only charge you whatever the cost differential is between a 128gb drive and whatever storage size you’d like. Upgrading the storage after the build is finished is tricky. Storage is capped at 512gb.

  • A dope design on the back - $0 (probably). I love doing unique designs and themes for a portable, if you want it to be themed after a certain game, character, etc. then I would love to make that happen. There are limits to my personal artistic abilities, but I’m happy to make an attempt at something unique and cool.

  • All white portable - $100. I hate building all white portables. I’ve built like 30 of them. I get it, it’s a Wii, all white looks nice, but I am sick of them. Either come up with something with a little more personality, or pay the premium.

  • Premium case - $100. Louii cases are usually done off of my home 3D printer, which produces cases that still have slight visible layer lines and occasional blemishes. I can order cases from a company that does them in higher quality, that just comes with additional costs. These cases can be solid colored, transparent, or translucent, so you do get more options. A few examples of premium cases are shown below.

Ashidas

An Ashida is a fairly large portable GameCube/Wii. It’s designed to fit the feel of a GameCube controller exactly, resulting in a perfect portable for GameCube games.

Starting price for an Ashida is $1550. The higher starting price is from needing to buy additional controller components, as well as the Ashida needing a premium case for a reasonable finish.

Features:

  • Runs virtually every GameCube/Wii game at full speed, as the unit has a real Nintendo Wii inside.

  • Custom colored buttons, sticks, and case in any color or style you’d like

  • 480p 5” IPS display.

  • Around 3.5 hours of battery life

  • Digital audio through the speakers and the headphone jack

  • Audio is controllable through a wheel on the bottom of the system.

Final Notes

  • As these are commissions, each unit will be built to order. This means there will be at least 1-2 months between the time you place your order, to the time I ship. I promise that commissions will be my #1 priority during this time, so rest assured that I’ll be working hard to get everything out ASAP

  • I charge 50% of the price of the commission up front to cover the costs of parts. The other 50% will be paid once the portable is finished and ready to ship. I typically do payment through PayPal.

  • Portables come with a year-long warranty at minimum against any issues that aren’t your fault. I will almost certainly help with any issues you have even years after shipping it out. I’ve helped people recently who bought portables from me almost 4 years ago, the guarantee of only a year is just in case I decide to fully move on from YouTube and portables.

  • If you live in the United States, then shipping is included in the cost of the portable. If you outside of the USA, then you will need to cover the additional shipping costs. With the exception of Canda, my preferred carrier is DHL.

  • I am not selling Wiiboy Colors anymore. That design needs a complete overhaul for me to be able to build those again, and I have no interest in doing that at this time. Sales on those will not resume any time soon, unless you’re willing to dump five figures for me to redesign it now.

  • For copyright reasons, I will not include any games on the handheld. Adding them yourself is a very straightforward process, I will help you with that process if needed.

  • Wii games that require precise motion controls (ex. Skyward Sword, Wii Sports) cannot be run properly at this time. There is software built into the console to emulate the Wii remote, but right now the motion simulation part of it is limited to just shaking. Software updates will flesh out this functionality in the future.

  • Virtual Console and emulator functionality is very much so a fun thing to play around with, and not a perfectly fleshed out system. Some of those games won’t run at all, others will run poorly.

And if you’re mad at my pricing, you’re more than welcome to build your own! I’ve done live streams in the past showing start to finish portable Wii builds, full video guides on topics like Wii trimming, and I plan to add more in the future. Building a portable is certainly a challenge, but it’s a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
